During the months of September and October 2010, the exhibition "NotAboutKarenBlixen" will be on show at the Karen Blixen Museum. This exhibition is a collaborative project between three Kenyan and three Danish visual artists. The artists will also be working together in pairs and will set Blixen´s works in a postcolonial context. The artists will also be working on different Blixen readings and meanings in Kenya and Denmark. The artists will create site specific works such as video works, sound pieces, collage and installation that will be shown in the museum as well as in the surrounding park. The exhibition is part of the My World Images Festival, and with this manifestation, The Karen Blixen Museum wishes to show the important bonds from Rungsted to Africa.
The artists are all accomplished artists on the international scene are: Michelle Eistrup (DK) in collaboration with James Muruiki (Kenya) and Gillion Grantsaan (DK) in collaboration with Ato Malinda (Kenya) as well as the writer Lesley Ann Brown (DK). Miriam Syowia Kyambi (Kenya) joins forces with Søren Assenholt. Finally Stefan Saffer (Germany) is part of this transnational exchange. The exhibition is curated by artist and curator Michelle Eistrup and Brooke Minto (USA) in collaboration with The Karen Blixen Museum. During the exhibition, The Karen Blixen Museum will host a number of activities relating to the exhibition such as talks and tours.

The exhibition is supported by The Danish Arts Council, Danish Center For Culture and Development (DCCD), Billedkunstudvalget - The Municipality of Copenhagen and Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA) and Toyota Fonden Denmark.
